Privacy policy

This policy explains how CheckTax handles information, consistent with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

Your calculations stay in your browser

Every calculator runs entirely as JavaScript on your own device. The income, property value, salary and other figures you enter are never sent to us or any server, and are never stored. Close the tab and they are gone. We could not see your inputs even if we wanted to.

What we collect

The site has no login, no forms, and sets no cookies of its own. It does not require any personal information to use.

Cloudflare Web Analytics records anonymous, aggregate page-view data only. There is no individual tracking, no advertising profile, no personal identifier, and no cookie set.

The static host that serves the pages may record standard, short-lived request logs (such as IP address and user-agent string) for security and abuse prevention, as is normal for any website.

Advertising

CheckTax may display advertisements served by Google AdSense and similar reputable advertising networks. Where ads are shown, third-party vendors (including Google) may use cookies, web beacons or device identifiers to serve ads based on a visitor’s prior visits to this site or to other sites, and to measure ad performance. CheckTax does not receive the personal data those vendors collect; their handling is governed by their own policies.

You can opt out of personalised advertising at google.com/settings/ads, via the Network Advertising Initiative at optout.networkadvertising.org, or via the Digital Advertising Alliance at aboutads.info. For details on how Google uses information from sites that use its services, see policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Where ads are not currently being served, this section still applies once they are switched on; the date above will be bumped on the same day.

Affiliate and partner links

Some outbound links on CheckTax are or may become affiliate or partner links. When you follow one and sign up or buy, CheckTax may receive a referral fee from that provider. The fee does not change the price you pay, and it does not change what the calculators on this site compute. Pages that include a paid link will be marked accordingly, in line with the ACCC’s guidance on endorsements. CheckTax does not share personal information with affiliate providers; the providers’ own cookies and tracking, if any, are governed by their privacy policies.

Third-party links

We link to official government sites so you can verify figures, and to selected third-party providers as described above. Those sites have their own privacy policies, which we do not control.

Your rights & contact

Because we do not collect personal information through the calculators, there is normally nothing for us to access, correct or delete. For any privacy question, email [email protected] or contact us via the About page.

Changes

If this policy changes (for example, when additional analytics, advertising or affiliate arrangements are enabled), we will update the "last updated" date above and call the change out on the changelog.
